A Salvation Army location in Dutchess County is finding a way to help those less fortunate get through the frigid winter.
Ana Guzman has been on a mission to help others ever since she came to the U.S. from the Dominican Republic decades ago.
She says people helped her in a time she needed it most, so she wanted to pay it forward.
She began something new with her husband Jose last week in their work with the Salvation Army in Poughkeepsie.

They are hanging scarves outside their organization's door, as well as throughout the city for people in need.
She says dozens of donated scarves were all taken over the last week, and as long as donations come in, she will hand them out.
Guzman says that if the weather gets warmer, she will save any donated scarves for next winter.
