Saw Mill River Parkway in Pleasantville closed as flood repairs begin
Part of the Saw Mill River Parkway in Pleasantville shut down early Monday as crews began to fix flooding problems.
The north and southbound sides of the parkway between Marble Avenue in Pleasantville and Manville Road in Thornwood will be closed the entire week. The parkway has been closed more than two dozen times since 2003 when heavy rains caused the Saw Mill River to overflow. Department of Transportation (DOT) crews plan to add six to 12 inches of asphalt to that stretch of the parkway to help alleviate future flooding.
The parkway, between exits 27 to 29, will remain closed until Friday evening. Detours have been set up but drivers are urged to find alternate routes and allow themselves extra travel time. State officials say the $250,000 project is just a temporary fix until a more permanent solution is found.
