WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
- The first week of autumn has cooler temperatures and a chance for showers for a few days this week.
- For the first time in over two weeks, rain has fallen across the region. The last time White Plains (where the official data for the region is measured) saw rain, was Sept. 7. The region is below the normal amount of rainfall for the month by 3.25 inches.
- After a mostly cloudy Tuesday, on-and-off showers return are expected for Wednesday and Thursday. The rain chances fade for Friday and into the weekend.
- Rainfall totals could add up to around an inch, on average.
- Temperatures will head toward seasonable levels for the weekend ahead, along with more sunshine.
- TROPICS: There are two disturbances being monitored by the National Hurricane Center. One disturbance in the western Caribbean Sea will slowly move into the Gulf of Mexico soon. It has mostly recently strengthened and is forecasted to become a major hurricane before it makes landfall in the Florida Panhandle by Thursday. The other disturbance is in the eastern Atlantic Ocean with a 20-70% chance of development in the next two to seven days.

THURSDAY: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers. Highs: low to mid-70s. Lows: upper 50s to low 60s.
FRIDAY: Partly sunny and drier. Highs: low 70s. Lows: mid-50s.
SATURDAY: Mix of sun and clouds. Highs: low 70s. Lows: mid-50s.
SUNDAY: Lots of sun with seasonal temps. Highs: low 70s. Lows: upper 40s to low 50s.
MONDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs: mid-70s. Lows: upper 40s to low 50s.
TUESDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs: low to mid-70s. Lows: mid- to upper 50s.
