The search continues for a new sheriff in Dutchess County following Butch Anderson's tragic passing last September.

On Monday, Gov. Kathy Hochul provided an update on the process.

"There's a process - very strong vetting background being done but also beyond what I do we send a recommendation to the senate we want to get this settled," said Hochul.

Anderson served as sheriff for 22 years after first being elected back in 1999 and re-elected four more times.
