Some Hudson Valley towns scored big in a recent study when it comes to safety.
The Town of Yorktown made the list.
"I feel very safe here," said Yorktown resident Kathy Burton.
Yorktown is No. 8 on the list compiled by the website SafeWise. It looked at violent and property crime rates.
Yorktown Police Chief Robert Noble credits the work of his officers.
"This police department is full of people that either live in this community or have family that still do. So, the officers that work here, we do have a vested interest," said Chief Noble.
According to data, Yorktown has a violent crime rate of 0.3 and a property crime rate of 6.4 per 1,000.
"Property crimes are decreasing. That's the partnership that we have with the community. If we ask for help, we as for video assistance, we get it all the time. It really does help us solve crimes and it also helps us prevent crimes," said Noble.
