A chip manufacturing operation in Dutchess County is embarking on an expansion initiative that promises to bolster job opportunities across New York.

AMD, a California-based designer of high-performance semiconductors, has unveiled plans to create 165 new positions throughout the state. This expansion encompasses various roles, including positions at the Westgate Business Park located in Fishkill, as announced by Gov. Kathy Hochul.

The new facilities will primarily focus on the design and validation of mixed-signal integrated circuits and packaging for processors utilized in cloud computing, data centers, gaming, and personal computers.

“AMD employees in Dutchess County are focused on research and design efforts to develop next generation high-performance processors. We are excited to expand our presence in the region, which is renowned for its top research universities and engineering talent, and to continue advancing leading-edge semiconductor innovation in the U.S.,” says AMD Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer Mark Papermaster.
