A revised bill to rename Donald J. Trump State Park in Yorktown Heights has fallen short in the state Legislature. While the Senate approved it, the Assembly did not take up the bill.

Democratic state lawmakers have been pushing for the name change for five years.

Earlier this week, sponsors of the bill Sen. Brad Hoylman, of Manhattan, and Assemblymember Nily Rozic, of Queens, changed it.

Instead of having the state parks office come up with a new name, the amended bill would have required the agency to first do legal review to determine whether it was possible.

The bulk of the park is within Sen. Pete Harckham's district. He co-sponsored the bill because he says he wants to see the park adequately funded.

"That's a park that's been underfunded, it's been undermaintained -- the trails have not been fully developed ... call it whatever you want to call it, I want to see the park really turned into the gem that it can be," Harckham said.
