Police in the City of Newburgh are investigating an incident involving multiple shots fired on Benkard Avenue Tuesday, around 9 p.m.

Authorities say multiple shell casings were found at the scene. The incident occurred shortly before a 37-year-old man was fatally stabbed nearby.

Officials have not said if the incidents are related. Both remain under investigation.
