A multimillion-dollar medical supply company in Orange County is now under investigation.
Sen. James Skoufis (D) announced the probe Tuesday alleging a Wawayanda company, Medline, is trying to avoid paying its property taxes by moving across county.
Skoufis says the company is at the tail end of a 10-year tax break in another town nearby.
He alleges instead of paying tens of thousands each year at their current location, Medline is trying to move to Montgomery for a similar tax-free deal. "This isn't a business in need of an incentive in order to make its business model work. This is a greedy company seeking to milk Montgomery taxpayers for all they're worth," says Skoufis.
News 12 calls to Medline and Montgomery town officials for comment have not been returned.
