A Sloatsburg homeowner played a crucial role in the search for a missing hiker from New Jersey.
Authorities reported that 63-year-old Carol Heimbach embarked on her usual hike at Ringwood State Park in New Jersey on Sunday afternoon. Concern arose when her family failed to hear from her, prompting them to contact the police.
A Sloatsburg homeowner, reviewing his Ring doorbell camera footage, spotted Heimbach near his house Monday. Sloatsburg is approximately five miles from Ringwood State Park, leading authorities to believe that she may have been exposed to the elements during her ordeal.
Police reported that Heimbach appeared disoriented but did not appear to be injured. She was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure. Fortunately, she is now home and safe after the 25-hour ordeal.
