A certain Hudson Valley community that keeps getting hit especially hard by each summer storm has again found itself in a situation akin to a scene from the movie, 'The Truman Show.'

Pawling Highway Department crews are now preparing for the possibility of more rain later this week.

People who live along Brady Brook emerged OK from another blast of rain early Monday morning, which raised the brook to a level they had never seen before.

One family just north of the brook told News 12 that they first woke up early Monday to crews responding to a downed tree in front of their home, then looked outside to see the brook swelling up into their yard.

They ended up waiting out the storm in a studio unit that sits higher than the rest of the brookside home.

Pawling Highway Superintendent Brill told News 12 on Monday that the water began receding around midday, revealing some erosion along waterways and roads.

Raging creeks expanded voids beneath South Quaker Hill and Old Quaker Hill Roads just east of Route 22.

Vanessa Jones has been house-sitting across the brook for a friend. The home has always withstood heavy storms, including this latest downpour.

This time, though, the water encroached closer than what they are used to.

"The owner called me at about 7 a.m. because she was concerned about the stream," Jones said. "I got up and looked around and took video and sent it to her. I've never seen it like this."

Brill's team and a county public works team have been clearing ditches and catch basins to prevent further damage to roads should rain hit hard again this week.

Creek levels, in the near-term, are not controllable.
