Drivers in Orange and Rockland counties faced a messy evening commute Tuesday as a result of another snowstorm that hit the Hudson Valley region, leaving behind slick roads.
Traffic came to a standstill on the northbound side of the New York State Thruway near Spring Valley and Chestnut Ridge after a car crashed into a guardrail. Movement on the southbound side also slowed down due to an accident.
Drivers at the Sloatsburg rest stop had mixed opinions about the road conditions, depending on which route they took.
?I drove up from the city today, and so far it?s been pretty clear,? says Jason Miller, of Goshen. ?It looks pretty bad when you look out your windows, but the roads are pretty clear.?
Other motorists, however, decided not to take any chance and drove slowly, hoping that others would follow their example.
?It's a fast moving highway, so you want to be careful [and] watch the other guy,? says Alan Newfeld, of Monroe.
Though the region only had between 1 and 3 inches of snow, dropping temperatures could make icy conditions an issue for Wednesday morning. Motorists are advised to use caution.
