A program in Dutchess County that is dedicated to stopping gun violence is getting more money to bring on more people for the cause.
Poughkeepsie’s SNUG Outreach program is receiving more than $100,000 to hire two more people, thanks to a state grant.
News 12 is told it will be used to bring on another outreach worker and to fill a new position – a hospital responder.
“We haven’t had a hospital responder ever. And it’s key, particularly when you’re dealing with young individuals or old individuals who have been shot. Because that will be the first point of contact in communicating to prevent retaliatory behavior," said Debra Long, of SNUG Outreach.
