As the City Council gears up to vote on the new Yankee Stadium plans, some Bronx residents are planning to rally against them.
A group of parents in Highbridge told the Daily News that until late last week there was a community meeting scheduled for Tuesday at PS 218. However, the parents say the Department of Education canceled the meeting last Friday. They are accusing the city of foul play and plan to hold their public forum at Macombs Dam Park, which will be taken away if the new stadium is approved.
Meanwhile, seven out of eight Bronx Council members have indicated they plan to approve the stadium project. Council insiders told the Daily News that two subcommittees plan to approve the project Wednesday morning, which will allow the full Council to vote in the afternoon session.
