Some Bronx gridiron stars got a jumpstart on football season Sunday.
The New York Bandits and the Empire State Titans met for the first time this season for the weekend matchup. The teams are two of the Bronx?s entrants in the Semi-Pro Eastern Football Alliance.
The league is made up of players from all different performance levels. Some of the players never even played in high school, while others have actually spent time in the NFL.
Sunday?s game took place at Evander Childs High School, giving the Bandits the home field advantage. The Bandits entered the game with a 4-0 record, and the Titans came in right behind them at 3-1.
The Bandits held on to the lead for the entire first half, going into halftime with a 24-6 lead. The Titans were able to come back in the third quarter, but it was too little, too late. Despite a good effort from the Titans, the game resulted in a win for the Bandits. The final score was 27-18.
