Somers begins to heal after triple shooting, vigil announced for victims

The town of Somers is trying to come to grips with a Monday night shooting that left one person dead and two others hospitalized.
One man told News 12 crews that it has just been difficult couple of days for many people who live in the town and the surrounding area.
"Yeah, a lot of people are shocked," he said. "[This] usually doesn't happen."

"My mom works in the district, she had [Michael] as a kid, so it's terrible," said Somers resident Max Germaine.
Fernando Jimenez, the man accused of shooting the family, was found about 12 hours after the incident took place in a building in Putnam Valley. He's now facing murder and attempted murder charges.
While scary in nature for many, Somers Town Supervisor Robert Scorrano said he wants people to feel safe as they heal from this tragedy. He announced that a vigil for the victims is scheduled take place at 6 p.m. on Saturday at Reis Park. He also outlined other ways that the town and Somers schools are stepping up to support people during the tough time.
"They sent out some information to the parents of the kids who were in the school district about resources that they have," Scorrano said. "Our conversation today is that the town is going to send out the resources and make available for the adults."
Scorrano said the resources that the town is sending out will focus on important topics like domestic violence and mental health.
"The town is reeling from this situation... I think, you know, we need to let the residents know that there's support out there," Scorrano said.
A motive for the shooting has not been released.
