Celebration in song, speech and prayer filled Nyack's Pilgrim Baptist Church Monday in remembrance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Voices from a choir brought congregants to their feet and rousing words from Rockland County legislators, like William Darden (D-8th District), made parishioners reflect. Darden encouraged the crowd to not let Dr. King's vision die. Famous words spoken by the assassinated civil rights leader, who would have turned 78 on Monday, were also repeated.
Pilgrim Baptist has held the interfaith celebration for the past 25 years. Reverends from other Hudson Valley churches were also on hand to honor Dr. King's struggle for equality.
