Towns and villages along the Sound Shore of Westchester County are trying to clean up after Friday's storm dumped more than six inches of rain in some spots, according to the National Weather Service.
Businesses and homeowners in hard-hit Mamaroneck are in a way too familiar spot -- being forced to pump out feet of water as they process another rebuild.
"That's the issue they have money like $100 million to fix the problem and they never did it. They never did anything, and we keep suffering," said Ricardo Linares, who has owned La Esquina Salvadorena on Mamaroneck Avenue for over 15 years.
According to Village Mayor Tom Murphy, all roads in Mamaroneck have reopened, but first responders continue to assist residents with clearing, pumping and gutting.
The American Red Cross is helping more than a dozen displaced residents at Mamaroneck High School on West Boston Post Road until Monday.
"We're providing three meals a day, a place to sleep, a warm environment, and someplace that they can call home until we figure out what the next steps are," said American Red Cross Metro New York North Chapter's Stephanie Dunn-Ashley.
Debris collection in Mamaroneck will start on Monday to ensure the streets are cleared as quickly as possible.
