Soundview residents were out rallying at a compost site Thursday to complain about a smell they say is unbearable.
Many say the smell is coming from a compost site, which is run by the sanitation department. According to residents, the stench from the site is so strong it penetrates their apartments. Residents say the site is affecting their quality of life.
Local leaders say they will fight to keep the contract between the parks department and sanitation department from being renewed. Assemblyman Ruben Diaz (D-Bronx) says the community is determined to get rid of the site.
