News 12's Tara Rosenblum has learned that prominent Democrats are urging Westchester County Executive George Latimer to run for Congress in a primary challenge against incumbent Jamaal Bowman in Congressional District 16.
The district covers both Westchester County and the Bronx.
Latimer is one of the most prominent county executives in New York. He has been the Westchester County executive since 2018, and has been a state senator, assemblyman and served as the Westchester County legislative board chairman.
According to Westchester County, he has never lost an election after over three decades in public office.
News 12 has reached out to both Latimer and Bowman for comment.
