Newburgh's suspended school superintendent accused of sexual harassment is now facing new claims from a second alleged victim.

Sources confirm those claims against Dr. Roberto Padilla were disclosed Monday night during the executive session of a Newburgh Board of Education meeting.

The new sexual harassment allegations prompted board members to hire a second investigator in the ongoing sexual harassment probe against the suspended superintendent.

Padilla was suspended with pay in August, days after getting a $30,000 pay raise, after he was accused of sexually harassing an employee during an out-of-state conference over the summer.

The allegations appear to be a sharp fall from grace since last year when Padilla was named Superintendent of the Year by the New York State Council of School Superintendents, while serving as a councilmember.

A representative for the organization said Tuesday they are aware of the allegations against Dr. Padilla and that he has not participated on the council since being suspended.

In 2019, the Orange County District Attorney's Office found the Newburgh Enlarged School District doctored student athlete attendance records and grades for eligibility purposes - while Dr. Padilla served as superintendent.

Those findings have yet to be addressed by the New York state Department of Education.

Dr. Padilla could be stripped of his title as Superintendent of the Year depending on the outcome of the investigation.

Deputy Superintendent Ed Forgit is in charge in the meantime.

News 12 reached out to the Newburgh School District and Board of Education for comment but hasn't heard back.
