SPCA: 2 dead dogs found in freezer of Greenville breeder, 13 surviving dogs rescued
Hudson Valley SPCA officials say 13 mini-Doberman pinschers were found living in filth inside the residence on Greenville Turnpike, and that two dogs were found dead in the freezer.
News 12 was on the scene of an animal rescue in Greenville Friday afternoon as more than a dozen dogs were taken from an alleged breeder and convicted animal abuser.
Hudson Valley SPCA officials say 13 mini-Doberman pinschers were found living in filth inside the residence on Greenville Turnpike, and that two dogs were found dead in the freezer.
“There’s fleas and feces everywhere. It’s just horrible,” says SPCA President Joan Kay. “It’s just so frustrating. We keep coming back. We keep rescuing these dogs.”
Officials say the animals’ owner, Pawel Poznerowicz, is a known breeder and convicted animal abuser who isn’t supposed to have dogs.
He denies they’re his.
“I don’t have dogs,” says Poznerowicz.
When News 12 asked who owns them, he replied, “The owner of the house.”
Online records show a woman with a different last name owns the house, but the residence is where Poznerowicz was previously found with two deceased dogs in the freezer in 2022 when he was charged with 57 counts of animal cruelty.
News 12 couldn’t get in touch with the homeowner.
Poznerowicz says the deceased animals found in the freezer on Friday have been there for about four months. The alleged breeder is listed on an animal abuse registry under Rocky’s Law. He served ten days in jail in 2023 for prior animal abuse.
Officials say Poznerowicz was issued an appearance ticket on Friday for allegedly violating Rocky’s Law for the second time since his conviction.
