A Spring Valley man has been convicted for the murders of a mother and daughter in a Valley Cottage apartment two years ago.
A Rockland County jury returned the verdict Tuesday against Robert Williams.
According to the Rockland County District Attorney's Office, he was charged with killing 27-year-old Kathleen Castor and her 63-year-old mother, Wanda. Officials say Williams went to the home and killed the two. At the time, Castor had an order of protection out against him.
Kathleen's 1-month-old baby was left in the apartment alive and unharmed.
Williams was also convicted of criminal possession of a weapon and criminal contempt.
Sharonda Jones says she can't believe it's been two years since she lost her cousin and aunt.
"I really miss them," says Jones. "They constantly come to mind. But I'm very grateful that the verdict was what it was."
Rockland's District Attorney released a statement saying in part, "This senseless act of extreme violence was avoidable and resulted in a complete tragedy. I hope today's guilty verdict brings some sense of justice to the Castor family."
