News 12 has learned that Spring Valley Mayor Alan Simon was hospitalized with COVID-19.
The mayor tells News 12 that he was released Tuesday night after getting monoclonal treatment. According to the mayor, he went to the hospital just hours after he attended an outside event, where volunteers were collecting donations for relief in Haiti.
Village Trustee Eudson Tyson Francois says the mayor's behavior is reckless.
"We were told inside Village Hall the question was asked, 'Does Mayor Simon have coronavirus?' yesterday. And one of his staff members said no, and they willingly knew," alleges Francois.
Mayor Simon says he will be in quarantine for 10 days.
As a precaution, all Village Hall employees will be tested for COVID-19.
News 12 has been told a Spring Valley village attorney has also contracted COVID-19 .
