A Spring Valley Village trustee is throwing his hat in the ring for mayor next year.
Spring Valley Village Trustee Eudson Tyson Francois is jumping in early in the race to replace current Mayor Alan Simon next year.
The Democrat made the announcement outside Village Hall, surrounded by family and supporters.
"We want to move Spring Valley forward, and since I've been here, I believe we've been at a standstill, in terms of what we need to get done for our residents," he said.
Earlier this year, Tyson Francois lost a bid to replace Sen. David Carlucci for the 38th state Senate District seat.
Mayor Alan Simon declined an on-camera interview, only telling News 12 that Tyson Francois needs to figure out how to do his current job before trying to step up and become mayor.
The two men have a contentious relationship. Last year, News 12 acquired audio of Tyson Francois and the mayor, who is known to have a history of public outbursts, getting into a shouting match at a trustee meeting.
