The family of a state assemblyman, who was known for his ethics and values, is mourning his loss in New City after his heroic battle with hepatitis C.

Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski died Sunday at the age of 61. Zebrowski's wife and six children describe him as a dedicated lawmaker who cared about helping seniors, improving health care and protecting consumers. Zebrowski's children say he often voted with his conscious and believed every vote affected his family.

Zebrowski started his career as a trial lawyer, but turned to politics in 1973 at the age of 27. He served 21 years in the Rockland County Legislature before being elected to the 94th Assembly District in 2004.

Governor Eliot Spitzer (D-NY) and other elected officials are calling Zebrowski an outstanding public servant who will be sorely missed. Zebrowski's funeral is scheduled for March 23.
