A dozen private schools in Orange County are now being fined for staying open during the height of the pandemic.
The state Department of Health says state funding is being withheld for 12 private yeshivas in Kiryas Joel for failure to comply with COVID-19 rules.
Those schools were found to have stayed open or failed to provide reopening plans against executive orders.
Eight other private schools in Rockland and Brooklyn also had their funding withheld.
