State police: 2 volunteer fire officials stole over $17,500 from Washington Heights Fire Company
New York State Police says two volunteer fire officials in Middletown were arrested for stealing from the department.
Investigators say they received a tip back in September about a possible larceny within the Washington Heights Volunteer Fire Company.
An investigation revealed that over several months, Washington Heights Fire Company's vice president Gordon Healy and financial secretary Lynn Simpson withdrew over $17,500 from the department's account.
Healy and Simpson were both charged with grand larceny and conspiracy.
