State police in the Hudson Valley plan to ramp up patrols on Saturday to catch impaired drivers.
April 20, or 4/20, is a significant date in cannabis culture and considered a holiday for consumption.
Although cannabis is legal in New York, state police warn of the dangers of impaired driving.
Troopers will be looking for drivers with slowed reaction times.
Sgt. Amy Anderson says the drivers who are caught will be punished under the full extent of the law.
State police made more than 1,400 arrests statewide for impairment from drugs last year alone.
