State Sen. James Skoufis announced Monday he is running to become the next chair of the Democratic National Committee.
Skoufis made the announcement on his X account, positioning himself as an outsider who knows how to win.
"I know how to win," Skoufis said. "Winning is the only thing that matters. And the party needs to fight relentlessly."
Skoufis, a progressive Democrat, has represented districts in the Hudson Valley in the New York State Assembly and Senate.
Other candidates vying for the top spot include Wisconsin Democratic Chair Ben Wikler, chairman of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Ken Martin and former Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley.
Current DNC Chair Jaime Harrison is not seeking reelection.
