The State Senate unanimously passed a new bill Saturday to block the dumping of radioactive wastewater from the decommissioned Indian Point nuclear power plant.
The bill will now move to the State Assembly.
Advocates are calling for a special session to pass the legislation and have it signed into law by Gov. Kathy Hochul.
In a statement, Food and Water Watch Senior New York Organizer Santosh Nandabalan said, "The clock is ticking -- Speaker Heastie must call a special session and pass the Save the Hudson bill immediately, so Governor Hochul can sign this critical legislation before it's too late."
