Just in time for the warmer weather, you can eat outdoors at your favorite Hudson Valley restaurant past midnight starting today.
The lifting of the outdoor dining curfew is great news for all Hudson Valley restaurants who have had such a tough time this past year.
Earlier this month, the restrictions for seating at bars was lifted, so this changes has been much welcomed for restaurants and bar owners who've been struggling to stay afloat for more than a year because of strict health and safety restrictions put in place during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"It's a very exciting time because we really are seeing the light at the end of this tunnel. And I think we don't want to be careless so we still walk around with our masks, but it's about time to feel a little more freedom," says Eric Bassin, of White Plains.
The state's curfew for indoor dining and indoor catered events remains in effect but that will be lifted on May 31.
And there are other state restrictions that will be dialed back this week. Subway service in New York City is now back to a 24/7 schedule and on Wednesday, capacity limits will be fully lifted for retail stores, restaurants, bars, gyms, and recreational venues such as amusement parks and museums.
