Members of the Stony Point Ambulance Corps are recounting their daring rescue operations on Bear Mountain during last month's flooding. 

On July 9, they sprang into action amidst heavy rainfall. The team, along with fire department and law enforcement personnel, navigated treacherous conditions to save six stranded hikers on Bear Mountain.

Allison Spong, an EMT with the Stony Point Ambulance Corps, remarked, "That was nerve-wracking, just because there was the unknown of, ‘are we even going to make it to the mountain?’"

A father and son fell an estimated 50 to 100 feet into rushing water, sustaining extensive injuries. Thiel's Second Assistant Fire Chief Jeff Kahn heroically carried the young boy for two miles, while the Stony Point Ambulance Corps rescued an additional 13 stranded hikers during the storm. 

First responders also rescued 40 individuals trapped in their cars due to flooding along Long Mountain Circle.
