Stony Point police and the Rockland County Sheriff's Office are donating over 300 bulletproof vests to support Ukraine.
Polina Vays, who was born in Ukraine and lives in Stony Point, contacted Stony Point leaders for support in finding a way to help her native country.
On Wednesday, local law enforcement helped load vests and protective plates into a U-Haul in the hope that it can bring some safety overseas.
"It's a horror, everybody is suffering, everybody has family. People have no roof, they have no food, they have nothing there," says Vays.
The bulletproof vests are aimed to embark for shipment during this week.
