THIS EVENING AND OVERNIGHT

After a nice Thursday with a mostly sunny to partly cloudy sky and high temperatures mostly in the middle to upper 40s, it will be a nice evening. Temperatures will be in the lower 40s, so it will be chilly enough to have a coat with you.

Overnight, low temperatures will drop into the upper 30s to low 40s - chilly, but not as cold as the past two nights. It will be partly cloudy, but there will be some patchy areas of fog developing that can linger through around 9 a.m. Friday. Slow down if you see any while traveling overnight or early in the morning.

MORE SEASONABLE FRIDAY

After the patchy early morning fog dissipates, it will be a nice day! There will be a mix of sun and clouds with afternoon temperatures more seasonable - in the middle to upper 50s across much of Long Island. The South Shore and East End will be cooler - in the upper 40s to lower 50s. It will be breezy at times with a southwest wind around 10 to 20 mph.

NEXT RAIN CHANCE

More clouds move in Friday evening and along with that there will be a chance for a few light rain showers after midnight and through around 5 a.m. Saturday. This will not be significant rain. Long Island is experiencing abnormally dry conditions, so we could use a bit of rain at this point, but I hope you are enjoying the dry weather, too, while we have it! After 5 a.m. Saturday, it will clear out quickly.

WEEKEND OUTLOOK

Overall, this will be a great weekend of weather. A sunny sky develops quickly on Saturday. It will be breezy, but a bit warmer with high temperatures in the upper 50s to low 60s. Sunday will be a bit cooler - lower to middle 50s - but still nice with a mix of sun and clouds. All outdoor plans will have decent spring weather - enjoy!

ELEVATED FIRE SPREAD RISK SATURDAY

The recent dry weather, paired with a drier, breezy northwest wind on Saturday, with low humidity and sunshine, will cause an elevated risk of fire spread. Please use extreme caution and avoid open outdoor flames.

If you are hoping for even warmer weather to return, it will for much of Long Island next week! Each day can feature a wide range of temperatures, as you might still expect this time of year. While it will be cooler most days along the immediate South Shore and East End, much of Long Island will experience highs in the 60s and 70s all week.
