The latest nor'easter that pummeled the Hudson Valley Tuesday wreaked havoc not only on locals roads, but also on the towns' coffers.
In Middletown, heavy rains caused water and raw sewage to bubble out of a manhole cover on Sterling Street, forcing crews to shut down a portion of the street and disinfect it.
Middletown Mayor Joseph DeStefano says the town has submitted a $4 million grant request to fix the sewage problem.
Warwick also sustained damage estimated at $650,000 from several consecutive storms. The town now needs three box culverts which allow water to flow. Supervisor Mike Sweeton says he hopes Warwick will receive federal disaster aid.
