Students in Mount Vernon got an up‑close look at the opportunities offered by Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) thanks to the second annual HBCU Weekend at Grace Baptist Church.
More than 200 students attended the two‑day event, which highlighted HBCU culture, campus life and academic programs. Representatives from more than 25 HBCUs were on hand to answer questions and guide students through what each institution has to offer.
The fair will conclude on Sunday with the president of Hampton University addressing the congregation during morning service.
