Student volunteers placed thousands of flags at a veterans cemetery in Goshen on Wednesday.

The effort took place at the Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery ahead of Memorial Day weekend.

Volunteers placed flags at grave sites to honor service members who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Junior ROTC members from S.S. Seward Institute in Florida helped place more than 4,000 flags, according to county officials.

Officials say the cemetery is the busiest veterans cemetery in Orange County.

The flags will remain in place through the holiday weekend.
