Sullivan County's Public Safety Commissioner, Scott Schulte, a native of Ulster County and longtime firefighter, has been deployed to Israel to assist with ongoing firefighting efforts.

Schulte is also a member of the Emergency Volunteers Project, a disaster relief and rescue organization focused on deploying teams to Israel in times of crisis.

During his two-week stay, Schulte is expected to be assigned to areas directly under attack.
