Storm Watch: Sun and clouds today, rain expected Wednesday night into Thursday

AIR QUALITY ALERT:

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an air quality health advisory for parts of the Hudson Valley until 11 p.m.

NOW: Warm with a mix of sun and clouds today.

NEXT: Early fog tomorrow with some breaks of afternoon sun before a period of steady rain moves in after 10 p.m. Rain can be heavy at times overnight Wednesday into early Thursday morning. A spotty thunderstorm chance will linger Thursday evening with dry periods and breaks of sun along the way.

FORECAST:

TODAY: Sun and clouds. An isolated afternoon pop-up shower is possible north of I-84, but even that shower chance is very low. Most of the day is nice. Highs around 82 degrees. UV INDEX: 8 (VERY HIGH). SUNSET: 8:24pm

TONIGHT: Mainly cloudy with areas of locally dense fog developing into Wednesday morning. Lows near 60 degrees.

WEDNESDAY: Mostly cloudy with areas of fog during the early to mid-morning hours. There can be some breaks of sun into the afternoon with highs around 78 degrees. Most of the day will be dry, but there will be an increasing chance of light rain showers into the late-evening hours, mainly after 9 p.m. Lows near 66 degrees with a round of steady rain and possibly a thunderstorm overnight into early Thursday morning.

THURSDAY: STORM WATCH - Moderate to heavy rain with a thunderstorm very early in the morning ends by around 6 a.m. A mix of sun and clouds with a pop-up shower or thunderstorm through mid-evening. Severe weather is not anticipated at this time, but minor ponding can occur in any passing thunderstorm. EXPECTED RAIN AMOUNTS: Around one inch. Highs near 78 degrees. Lows near 63 degrees.

FRIDAY: Partly sunny. Spotty shower chance through the day but keep outdoor plans. Highs around 78 degrees. Lows near 60 degrees. SATURDAY: Partly sunny to mostly cloudy. Spotty rain shower chance, but it is not a washout. Highs around 75 degrees. Lows near 60 degrees. SUNDAY: Partly sunny to mostly cloudy. While there will be a spotty rain shower chance, it is not likely to be a washout. Highs around 77 degrees. Lows near 59 degrees.

MONDAY: Mostly cloudy with scattered rain showers likely. Highs around 83 degrees. Lows near 62 degrees.
