Sunny and mild Thursday ahead of heavy rain threat to start the weekend

NEW: Continuing to monitor changes in the forecast for Friday afternoon through Saturday morning as moisture from Nicole interacts with a strong cold front. Lots of unknowns right now with timing/intensity, but heavy rain in the forecast as well as a threat for isolated strong to severe storms, potentially damaging winds and dangerous marine conditions.
NEXT: Much colder air moves in from the end of the weekend into the beginning of next week.

TROPICS: Watching Nicole. On the current track, it will make landfall in Florida Thursday morning. The remnants will interact with our next front and bring rain to the Hudson Valley Friday late afternoon/early evening.
FORECAST:
OVERNIGHT: Clear and cold tonight with lows in the 30s and low-40s.
THURSDAY: Mild! Mostly sunny with highs around 65 degrees. Lows around 50.
FRIDAY: VETERANS DAY -- Mostly cloudy with rain showers developing after lunch. Rain may be heavy at times at night with a chance of thunderstorms and windy in the evening to overnight. Isolated risk of strong to severe storms. We will keep you updated as the forecast changes come in as we are still a few days out. Highs around 69. Lows around 63.
SATURDAY: Periods of moderate to heavy rain before sunrise. Then some sun. A bit windy. Highs around 67. Lows near 40.
SUNDAY: Mostly sunny. Temperatures will remain in the 40s through the morning and afternoon, then freezing overnight. Highs around 50 degrees. Lows around 32.
