Police have a man in custody Wednesday after a terrorizing home invasion and robbery crime spree in Hillcrest.
According to investigators, after breaking into a home on Long Ridge Court Tuesday night, the suspect grabbed a kitchen knife and used it to threaten a grandmother, her daughter and her 9-year-old grandchild. Another person in the house called 911. The suspect was leaving the house with a bag of cash, credit cards and jewelry when police showed up.
Police believe the man is Emerson Martinez-Salas, an illegal immigrant from Guatemala. They believe he also burglarized at least five cars in the neighborhood. He is charged with robbery and burglary and is being held in the Rockland County Jail without bail.
