The front of a New City pizzeria was destroyed yesterday morning after an SUV came crashing through the entrance.
According to police, the accident happened just after 11 a.m. at Pakula's Pizzeria on South Little Tor Road. Officials say a 29-year-old woman was backing out of her parking spot when her foot got stuck on the gas pedal, accelerating the vehicle in the wrong direction.
An owner and two employees were inside at the time, but were not injured. They say if the incident happened an hour later, the pizzeria would have been packed with customers.
Clarkstown police say they don't expect to file any charges or issue any tickets.
