A teacher was hospitalized in after an altercation with a student inside a classroom at Newburgh Free Academy. The district said the incident happened Tuesday.

Officials have not released details about injuries or what led to the confrontation. They said the student will be held to the standards outlined in the district’s code of conduct.

The district said it is conducting a comprehensive review of the incident. Support is being offered to those who witnessed the altercation.
