A Rockland teenager and new father is dead after a vehicle hit his motorcycle, according to police.
The victim has been identified as Richard Quezada, 17, of Chestnut Ridge. Ramapo police say Quezada's Honda motorcycle collided with a Nissan Maxima on South Pascack and Watermill roads in the Chestnut Ridge section of Ramapo Friday night.
"It's horrible," says Michelle Rojas, 17. "I'm still waiting to wake up. This is not real." Quezada was her high school sweetheart and the father of her 3-month-old baby, Jayden Anthony Rojas Quezada.
Quezada's motorcycle was left broken in pieces, as was his helmet, which Rojas says Quezada always wore. The driver of the Nissan suffered minor injuries.
Rojas says Quezada had just spent the day at her home, where he helped out around the house, and that he was on his way home just a few miles away when he was killed.
"He was amazing. He wasn't just my best friend, he was my boyfriend, he was like my therapist," says Rojas. "I would go to him at times when I felt down."
The pair had met at church and started dating three years ago. Quezada even transferred from Spring Valley High School to Ramapo to be closer to her.
They had planned to get married after graduation this spring. Quezada also planned to enlist in the Marine Corps.
"He always came after school to see the baby," says Rojas. "He stayed here for hours taking care of the baby. The baby always smiled to him."
No charges have been filed in the crash.
