The Safety Net Project gives free legal advice, benefits assistance to residents

One local nonprofit is offering free services to help Bronx residents get back on their feet.
The Safety Net Project provides free advice on food stamps, housing issues and even offers legal assistance. It also helps out with Medicaid and welfare benefits.
The director of litigation for the organization says it has a 97 percent win-ratio in fair hearings, ensuring that families get the benefits they desperately need to survive.
No appointments are needed to meet with someone from the Safety Net Project. Residents are seen on a first-come, first-served basis.
