Thousands in Ulster County without power in wake of Friday’s ice storm

Friday’s freezing rain and ice left more than 60,000 Hudson Valley residents without power.
Central Hudson says crews working into the night were able to restore power to more than 60% of customers. As of Sunday morning, there are still 20,000 homes without power.
Ulster County Executive Pat Ryan is urging those still without power to heed precautions, especially in freezing cold conditions.
“It is no longer safe to stay in an unpowered home,” says Ryan.
There are warming centers open for people who need a place to go, including the Andy Murphy Center, Second Church the Mission, the East Kingston Fire Station One and the Best Buy at the Hudson Valley Mall.
Other locations include SUNY New Paltz Elting Gym, and the Saugerties Senior Citizen Recreation Center.
