Three arrested in Mount Vernon traffic stop after K-9 alerts to narcotics

Three people were arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop in Mount Vernon on Thursday.
New York State Police say that troopers conducted a traffic stop Thursday night near Sanford Boulevard and South Third Avenue.
During the investigation, State Police K-9 Vinn conducted an exterior scan of the vehicle and alerted troopers that there were narcotics present, according to officials.
A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the seizure of approximately 71 grams of cocaine, a fraudulent New York driver's license, fraudulent Social Security cards and a U.S. Treasury check for $29,064.59.
Police say they also recovered multiple New York State identification cards and several debit cards bearing various names.
The driver was identified as Christopher J. Mulligan, 32, of Brooklyn. The passengers were identified as Turone J. Bason, 31, of New York, and McKeit L. Christopher, 27, of Mount Vernon.
Christopher, Bason, and Mulligan were each arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a forged instrument, and criminal use of drug paraphernalia.
All three defendants are being held pending arraignment in the City of Mount Vernon Court.
