Three people died Sunday when their car veered off I-95 near East Gun Hill Road, eventually flipped over and burst into flames.
Authorities say the now unrecognizable 1995 Honda Accord was traveling northbound on the interstate around 4:45 a.m. when the vehicle swerved. The car then drove up a hill, slammed into, and broke a cement overpass barrier and became airborne. According to officials, the vehicle then flipped over on its hood and burst into flames. Investigators are unsure whether the driver ever hit the brakes because they say skid marks were not at the scene.
Officials pronounced three people dead at the crash site. A fourth person in the car was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in critical condition.
