Despite a fiery crash in Hillburn Tuesday, the New York State Thruway overpass has been deemed structurally sound.
State police say the driver of a McDonald?s truck apparently suffered a heart attack and hit the guardrail, which caused a portion of the truck to fall onto the Thruway. That part of the truck then burst into flames. Chester Bush, 62, of New Jersey died and his passenger sustained minor injuries.
Thruway Division Director Ramesh Mehta says engineers were on the scene, giving the overpass the green light. Mehta adds besides the clean up, some minor repairs need to be done, such as replacing the guardrail.
